Jess Keating B.Ed., B.A.T.D.
the owner and founder of Dance Collective Studio, has been dancing since the young age of 3, starting her dance training in Ajax at Messmer School of Dance. During her early years of dance she began training in ballet, tap, and jazz, and later on picked up more styles such as pointe, contemporary, modern, lyrical, musical theatre, and hip hop. Jess's love for dance soon grew into a passion and now has become a lifestyle she chooses to pursue.
During Jess's competitive years as a dancer, she was nominated as Dancer of the Year, Top Tap Soloist at the North American Competition Dance America, Best Potential at the B.A.T.D. Ballet Scholarship, and multiple Adjudicators Choice awards. Jess continued dancing throughout her University career aiming a spot as Dance Team Captain in her last year at University. She has performed in numerous charity events and multicultural shows during her University career, and showcased multiple Hip Hop routines at a community Hip Hop Competition in Peterborough.
Jess has completed her Bachelor of Education teaching degree at Trent University and is also a qualified B.A.T.D. teacher in Ballet, Tap, and Modern. Just this past year, Jess won her eighth Overall Choreographers Award as well as multiple overall high score awards at competition. Jess is constantly putting forth a positive attitude in and around the studio, and always takes the time to motivate and encourage dancers to try their best.
“ I am truly grateful for the opportunities that dance has given me. It has allowed me to explore other styles of dance and work with some amazing dancers and choreographers. Not only is teaching extremely rewarding but it is a bonus that I am teaching something that I love to do.” Jessica looks to “inspire while being inspired by the students I teach.”
Jess looks forward to sharing her passion for dance and inspiring this generation of dancers, and cannot wait to welcome everyone into her "new home" at Dance Collective Studio!
